Academic Cardiothoracic Imager – New York University School of Medicine

The New York University School of Medicine of the NYU Langone Medical Center invites applications for a position in the newly established Cardiothoracic Imaging Section in the Department of Radiology.

The Cardiothoracic Imaging Section at NYU represents the merger of our renowned thoracic and cardiac imaging sections, with the intention of providing enhanced clinical services and promoting collaborative research through the overlap in expertise of section members.

The Section covers NYU Tisch Hospital, the NYU Clinical Cancer Center, and Bellevue Medical Center, as well as several outpatient centers. These provide a tremendous wealth of clinical material, and abundant opportunities for research and teaching.

Broad based research in the section includes cardiac and pulmonary imaging, including dual-energy CT for evaluation of lung and  airway enhancement and myocardial ischemia; lung cancer screening and computer aided diagnosis (CAD) in nodule detection, nodule characterization at CT and MR, MR imaging for correction of congenital heart defects and myocardial perfusion; CTA and MRI for aortic disease, CT guided ultra-thin bronchoscopy; high-resolution lung CT; high-pitch and dose reduction CT techniques for thoracic and cardiac applications; and volumetric CT data management and manipulation.

The 16 section members, widely published clinical and basic researchers, hold leadership positions in national and international societies, including committees defining cardiothoracic imaging guidelines and policy.

The Section offers fellowships in thoracic imaging, advanced cardiac imaging, or a combination thereof. It provides outstanding training for medical students, radiology residents, fellows in radiology and cardiology, and continuing medical education.

The NYU Department of Radiology enjoys a reputation as a world renowned leader in research and clinical excellence, and the large residency program is acknowledged as one of the best in the country.

The successful candidate will have an M.D. degree with training and experience in cardiac and thoracic imaging. A demonstrated commitment to training and education is also valued.
