The Department of Radiology at UMass Memorial Medical Center is now accepting applications for its Cardiothoracic Imaging Fellowship for the 2021-2022 academic year. This one-year clinical fellowship in Cardiothoracic Imaging provides comprehensive involvement in clinical, educational, and research activities, and provides excellent preparation for a career in academic radiology or in private practice. Training includes exposure to the full spectrum of cardiothoracic disorders and a variety of diagnostic imaging methods, including but not restricted to CT- and MR-angiography, thoracic MRI, functional CT- and MR-imaging, 3-D reconstruction techniques and post-processing methods. There is also a strong cardiac imaging component within the section, with over 800 cardiac CT and MR exams performed per year in both the pediatric and adult populations.
Dedicated elective time is available in onco-radiology/PET-CT, thoracic intervention, and pediatric thoracic imaging. Moreover, close collaboration with our clinical partners from pulmonology and cardiology affords our fellows learning opportunities in interventional pulmonology and cardiology, as well as in echocardiography. Additionally, we collaborate with our clinical counterparts on a weekly basis with multidisciplinary conferences, including an interstitial lung disease conference, a thoracic oncology tumor board, a lung cancer screening conference, a radiology-pulmonology and a radiology-cardiology case conference.
The Cardiothoracic section at UMass Memorial Medical Center interprets approximately 110,000 studies per year. Our CTI faculty currently includes 6 attendings, all of which are devoted teachers and/or researchers. The section also hosts a growing number of research fellows and has a highly active research program.
Application requirements include UMass Memorial Medical Center fellowship application form, Curriculum Vitae, personal statement, 3 letters of reference (one must be from your current program director or supervisor), USMLE/LMCC Official score transcript, and ECFMG Certificate (if applicable).
