The Department of Radiology at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. is seeking a Cardiothoracic Radiologist to join our growing Cardiothoracic Imaging Section. The Department performs approximately 300,000 examinations each year and there are over 1 million exams per year throughout the health system. We have a well-established thoracic imaging practice with a close relationship to our outstanding pulmonary and thoracic surgery programs. We participate in interdisciplinary efforts to provide seamless thoracic services, including a multidisciplinary lung cancer screening program. The Lombardi Cancer Center is the only NIH Comprehensive Cancer Center in Washington DC and has very active clinical and research programs in lung cancer. We also have a growing cardiac imaging program, with a cooperative effort with our Division of Cardiology, and we are seeking candidates interested in both thoracic and cardiac imaging.
The Department has three Siemens CT scanners, 3 Siemens MRI systems and a PET CT scanner. A new hospital tower will open in mid-2023 and will include a new inpatient department with an additional MR, an intra-OR MR for sedation cases and 2 CT scanners. In addition, we provide thoracic study interpretation support for radiologists serving other system hospitals and outpatient imaging centers. We have two cardiothoracic radiologists and seek a third to help manage our growing practice volume. The department has a strong fully-accredited radiology residency and a body imaging fellowship program.
The individual applying should have fellowship training or extensive subspecialty experience in thoracic and cardiac radiology and have an interest in making substantial contributions to the growth and depth of our clinical, educational, and research efforts in this specialty area. Must be eligible for licensure in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. ABR Board certification in Diagnostic Radiology at hire or within 2 years of hire.
